Kate Hollenbach / About
I am currently a graduate student in the Physical Language Workshop at the MIT Media Lab, advised by Professor John Maeda. I recently graduated from MIT with a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering. I like algorithms and programming and other appropriately nerdy things, but I most enjoy fusing my technical interests with problems in design and art. Usually this means I program user interfaces or data visualizations, but I've also dabbled in digital (computational?) art. Right now I am working on E15, a platform for dynamic graphics and 3D visualization, with my labmates at the PLW.
If you're interested in a more formal overview of my work history, please see my resume.
I love my work, but I also like some other stuff, including: reading, traveling, sushi, char kway teow, chocolate, cities, coffee shops, piano rock, Katamari Damacy, running, flowers, drawing, painting, Boston Common, the smell of the ocean, etc.
Finally, if you're tired of reading all this text, here are some other places you can find me on the web that have less of my writing: my portfolio, openstudio, del.icio.us, flickr
